One misconception I often hear is that Twin Soul relationships complete you. This isn't the case.
You're already complete and whole on your own and you never need anyone to complete you. You always have been and you always will be. Full stop.
The Twin Soul path is like a divine assignment, an invitation to go deeper into certain areas of study while you wander around on the planet Earth. There is a lot of personal truth to uncover and a lot of work to do. It isn't some fairytale about someone else completing you and living happily ever after in a gingerbread house full of gumdrops.
The Twin Soul path is the most raw, exposing, expansion heavy path you can be on. This soul deep mirror will move you into the deepest parts of yourself. It will strip you to the core and pull the threads of your old beliefs away. It will shine a light on your darkest wounds and illuminate how you can heal yourself and where you need to open more fully.
The Twin Soul journey isn't about letting someone else save you or complete you. It's about showing you that you're already whole and only you have the power to save yourself.
So why is there so much to go through as Twins try to figure things out?
Sometimes there is a lot to go through before connection can occur. We've all led different lives here during our incarnations on this planet and with that comes a wide variety of experiences. These can lead to a myriad of fears, insecurities and wounds that are brought up for healing.
It can be raw and painful seeing ourselves in truth at this deep level. Some can be wounds we didn't even know we were carrying. And in healing wounds, there is always deeper to go.
These are our wounds to heal. And whether our Twin is here for a lifetime or gone after a brief stop in our world, the raw nerves that are exposed need to be seen fully.
Things sometimes look worse before they get better in these unions.
Why? As the Lotus rises through the muck and mire, there is much to go through. As we heal and expand along the Twin Soul path, we too rise. But it can be hard. You have to open to yourself and journey into your depths. You have to uncover all your wildness and your deepest desires. Like Inanna venturing into the Underworld on a deep voyage into the shadow lands, we too have to travel the darkest parts of ourselves.
We need to do our work. Whether we know our Twin yet or not, or if that's part of our experience in this lifetime, we have vital and sacred work to do here on this planet to help it evolve. We have to heal. We have to grow. And we have to learn. About ourselves, our medicine, our fears, our desires, and our hearts. We have fathomless depths to travel deep within and so much treasure to discover in ourselves.
Why would anyone want to go through this?
Seems like a lot of pain and suffering to go through doesn't it? All this healing and working through wounds? It's not always about digging up old hurt though. The Twin bond is like nothing else. From those I've talked to who have walked this path, it's a soul deep bond like no other. You're connected in a way that is extremely difficult to express but impossible to ignore. It's like being connected to your own soul.
There are so many similarities between you, inexplicable synchronicities and alignments that you can't deny connection. Yet, there are enough differences in order to facilitate contrast as well as growth. That's the thing about the Twin relationship, it's always evolving and ever expanding.
Everyone is in a different place when they meet their Twin on their path, and each journey is different. Some need to do more work before things can move forward, some need to open deeper to themselves and some just haven't met yet. But the consensus is that no matter where you are on your path, you will be struck by this soul deep recognition.
And you will know. You will just know.
