I feel like I've been giving up a lot lately.

I was letting go of ideas, projects and situations that just weren't working out in their current format. I was letting go of the way I thought relationships in my life needed to look like or even where I needed to be in order to be happy.

Giving up isn't a sign that you are weak; it can be really strong, brave and really smart. The old conditioning that we are taught to believe told us that giving in meant losing, that it was a sign of being soft. That if we let go we were quitting, and quitters never win.

Why would you keep pushing for something that wasn't working? Why would you keep paddling and battling up-stream?

Esther Hicks calls it "efforting" which is going against the current, fighting the flow, needing to do it right now even though things aren't lining up.

Sometimes giving up is really powerful.

Giving up old habits, thoughts and ideas that just are not working. Giving up toxic relationships and friendships, jobs and career paths that suck us dry. Giving up on the meaningless and opening instead to soul deep nourishment.

Sometimes giving up means walking away from things that are harmful or hurtful and setting boundaries that ensure our peace, health and harmony.

Sometimes giving up means taking a break so the energy can sort itself out.

It can mean grabbing a tea and walking away from the situation, taking a walk in nature or listening to your favorite song. It can mean taking off for the weekend and going to the lake. By stepping away from the situation and no longer stressing about it, we let go of any strain that can be contributing to the mishaps.

Sometimes it means giving the seeds we plant the time to grow.

We can't pick something from the garden the day after planting it; it needs time to grow. Cakes need time to bake, bread needs time to rise. Yes, we need to put in the effort to make these things happen, but we can't rush the outcome.

Sometimes giving up means there is another way.

That maybe we can't see another path that is slowly coming into being, a better way that is invisible right now through our limited scope. But maybe it's out there in the unseen flowing to us. Sometimes it means stopping doing things the way they're always been done and hoping they will turn out differently.

Sometimes giving up the things that weigh us down means we reclaim ourselves.

That by saying no more to the stress, heartache and bull, we are saying a big yes to us. It can mean you're done giving your all to everything that sucks you dry.

Maybe giving up means I don't have all the answers right now and that's ok.

Maybe it means something better is coming even if I can't see it.

Maybe it means have a little faith for once, let go and just relax.

Because sometimes letting go is the strongest thing we can do.
