I'm Not Going To Apologize

I'm not going to apologize for my anger.

I'm not going to discreetly digest my feelings in the shadows while the world crumbles at my feet.

I'm not going to close my eyes as the rights and freedoms of my worldly tribe are dissected, desecrated and dragged through the mire.

I'm not going to turn a blind eye to the heart breaking in my chest or the spirit bleeding deep within.

I'm not going to apologize for my passion and the flames that burn cloud high in this soul.

I'm not going to calm down and sit quietly swallowing my voice and my truth.

I'm not going to quell this raging storm that wells within my being demanding equality, justice and freedom for all.

I'm not going to apologize for my fire; I wasn't born only to be sugar and spice, silence and servitude.

No one gets to decide when I'm too much and no one gets to dictate my volume, my passion or my heart. 

I am a raging inferno.

I am a rising tempest.

I am a Phoenix aflame.

I will never stand down and I will never silence this voice of rebellion.

I was not born to wear chains; I was born for revolution.

This is not a time to lay down, this is a time to rise.

This is a time to realize our magnificent powers and medicine.

This is a time of raising our heads and howling our truth to the sky.

We are the change that is coming; we are the fires of rebirth.
