The subject of home has been on my mind a lot lately.

When we spend a whole existence wandering on the seas of life and sailing at times uncertain waters, we can become lost at sea.

We can feel the pull on our compass towards some distant horizon which calls to fill an ache in our hearts, a deep yearning for a place we may have never known before.

Reading a map etched on the spirit and listening to a call towards the familiar unknown, we follow the unraveling thread of a sometimes confusing path and weave them into the answers that our souls so desperately seek.

Home can be an illusive and ever moving target, but one that we follow nonetheless.

Some lose the path to their childhood homes never to be able to return. Some never want to return at all.

Some are born with a gnawing in their souls that home is still out there somewhere, calling them towards an invisible destination far on the horizon that lures them with the siren song of belonging.

Perhaps it is the lament of the road weary wanderer to pine for such a thing, to long for the safe harbor and welcoming arms that the spirit whispers of.

Home is where the heart is they say.

If you feel like you've always been longing for and searching for your home, does that mean you've always been searching and longing for your heart as well?

Home isn't a place it's a feeling.

It's not only about four walls.

It's total acceptance, joy, and laughter. It's a port when things get stormy.

It's the ache of belonging that runs soul deep.

It's where you run towards when you are in need of comfort and love.

It's where the ones who cheer for you are.

It's freedom to be who you are, to live your truth and speak your heart.

It's a light when things get dark, a beacon that shines from the shadows.

It can be a place but it can also be a person, a path, or an belief.

It is something that we find within ourselves.

How do you know when you've found it?

Finally something just clicks, even amidst doubt or fear.

There's no place like home, they say and the feeling is unmistakable.

You feel like you've found some long lost piece to the puzzle.

When you are away from it, you feel like you've left something behind in the rear-view mirror.

Sometimes finding home requires a leap of faith, taking a chance and walking the path less traveled.

Home sweet home.

As you sail towards that familiar and yet unknown port, take heart and have courage.

The path towards home can be perilous and fraught with trials, but there is no greater treasure on Earth.

Upon those shores that beckon you, may you find belonging, acceptance and love.

Home is where the journey begins they say.

May your journey always lead you home.
