"A thought to help us through these difficult times: Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." ~Ian MacLaren

The world we live in can be fraught with masks and illusion.

We are brought up with the belief that so much of our time needs to be spent wasting our energy holding up these veils and not letting anyone see what is really going on. These are the masks are woven out of fear and if worn too long they can be suffocating.

Everyone has shadows that dwell within them.

We all have things that go on behind our eyes that no one else sees. This is something that we all experience on this planet we call Earth.

A very unjust and destructive reality unfolds when we believe we are able to judge another and how they themselves dance with their shadows. How we ever got the idea that we were worthy to stick our noses in what someone else was experiencing and hold it on a scale I will never know.

The reality is we have not had the same experiences and life that the other person has. So we have no way to know what they are truly going through.

Something that can be very easy for one person to go through can be literally destroying another. There is no standard unit of measure when dealing with shadows. Each and every one of us is different, and in no place of deserving judgement.

The more we hold others in a place of judgement because of what we think they are going through and the beliefs we have in correlation to that, the more they hide. The more they hide, the more shame they feel and the more shadows are born. It's a vicious waltz that keeps going.

There is no shame in having shadows, each of us do. They are a part of who we are.

Move from a place of kindness on this journey of life, because everyone you know has some sort of battle that rages inside of their heart. It doesn't mean that we can fight this battle for them, but we're not meant to. The battle is one that belongs to each of us, our demons are ours to meet and to dance with.

All that we can do is offer the gift of understanding and love.
