There is a sacred simplicity born of not wanting others to hurt, to feel alone or to be sad.

Empathy has moved the deep ocean within me in ways that made me want to reach out and change the world no matter how seemingly impossible a task we are taught this can be by society. We are after all just a small pebble in a giant pond, who are we to think we can change the tides of the world?

The reality is that we have never been more connected in our disconnection and never in a better position than we are right now at this very minute to change the very way we support and help one another. We have vast abilities beyond our wildest dreams at our fingertips. All it takes is the belief that we can.

One such project that popped into my brain was the inception of a page on Facebook a few years ago called Zenlightened in which I vowed for every day for a year to post ideas for random acts of kindness to brighten the lives of those around us.

Then it evolved the next year to "365 days of doing loving things for yourself" and bring the act of love to ourselves, for we so often go without and it is so key to nurture this flame within you and nourish your own soul feeding it well. This was born out of my deepest desire for no one to ever feel sad or alone.

What was the purpose in an already flooded place like Facebook full of feel-good memes and smile inducing captions? If I could just make one person out there in all the world have a moment of happiness, a spark of light to brighten their day or a little lift if they were down, then it would be worth it.

Like "Operation Smile Card" which I printed up business cards with positive phrases on and left them in airports, public bathrooms and restaurants, even if only one heart was made happy by seeing it, totally worth it.

All of that led me to the happiness and joy that I find in penning the words written on the walls of my heart here in The Goddess Circle, each skip of the stone on the water bringing me further across the pond and to the next incarnation of working with my truth; the truth of deep down wanting to brighten, to encourage, to support and to love, to create sacred space of allowing, of acceptance and of soul nourishment.

These are the greatest and most humble gifts that we can give on this Earth and ones I strive to midwife into being.

The thread that moves within hearts connecting us all is beautiful beyond words. This invisible bond of empathy and love moves within us even if we don't see it and has the power to change the world.

We all go through times of feeling small and like nothing that we do matters. And yet when we see all that can be accomplished with such simplicity and love, we truly see the powerful beings that we are and the magic that we are capable of.

No act of love or kindness is ever a waste, whether directed at another or towards yourself. The smallest of ripples can lead to the biggest of waves and have unforeseen impacts on those around us. The oceans of people in this world are vast and deep.

How will you dip your oar in the seas?
