She lay there in the wake of another world still tangled with the threads of all she could not wash away.
How to arise from a beautiful dream, she wondered.
How to pull the sweet gossamer strands of sleep from one's eyes and the aching yearning of recollection it brings.
Could one every truly awaken?
She could feel them on her still haunting fingertips caressing her skin like a well loved page. The ever present ghost was the reminder of the ticking of time and distance that devoured the seconds in between.
But oh, how she loved that echo of a heart that pounded against her body.
Could she stay there always, she pondered, in that place where calm seas of familiar warmth spread through her and her heart beat happily away in her chest.
Could there be a place for her among those waters?
Could it be the river that led her home to her heart?
