As humans, we are powerful beyond measure.
We have within us the ability to create and impact the world around us profoundly. We have the power to change anything that we set our minds to.
We are so powerful we are given in every moment a choice in how we feel, what we think, and what we believe. Everything is within the realm of our control.
We are in every moment a choice away from moving in the direction of everything that we have ever wanted. We are one thought, conversation, belief or decision away from opening the floodgate to our wildest dreams.
Yes, sometimes it takes baby steps as we reach for something that feels a little better than where we are, but in the end we are the only one's with the power to be able to make that shift.
Yes, there are things beyond our control like where we are born or who we are born to, or things that occur to the young.**** (Unless you subscribe to the theory that we choose all of this before we are born, in which case that too is a choice.)
But once we peel away the few things that take place in relation to others with a huge influence on us such as how and to whom we are born, we are the supreme conductors of our lives and what we choose dictates the stage on which our life unfolds.
We hold the compass in one hand and the map in the other. We choose the components and building blocks that make up our lives and shape our reality.
So if this is all up to us, what is the purpose of others in our lives?
During the course of our life challenges, events and people rise inquiry within. These questions give birth to choice. It can give us everything from new options on lunch items we had never thought of before to another angle on the meaning of life. We re even given the choice on what level we co-create with them and how deep we let them in.
They show us the boundaries, the sore spots, the hurt and the rage that we hold within. They show us the love, the joy, the dreams and the desires that are born in our heart's.
They hold a mirror up and show us the depth of our longing but the choice is still ours if we open to the depths of ourselves and free fall into the truth of it all. They are the checkpoints along the way full of lessons and guidance that reveals to us our deepest thoughts, wants and needs.
Our interactions with others bring contrast which is invaluable. And still every choice we make with them and with what rises as a result of them is our choice.
I used to think that by not choosing I wasn't making a decision.
That if I stayed still and didn't pick one over the other, then I wasn't making a choice. But in that place of not choosing, there is still a decision made towards an option. Just because we perceive ourselves to stay neutral, we are still making a choice. Not making a decision is still choosing.
To choose how we feel. To choose what beliefs we have. To choose the thoughts that we think. To choose those that play a part in the unfolding of our lives.
How can we imagine ourselves as anything other than powerful creators of our own reality when we have such amazing resources within? When in any moment we can embrace soul fulfilling nourishment and divine truth leaving behind what is not in alignment with us?
When we can choose to see through the parts of our lives we are told were mistakes and know that they are part of the dance and part of the path chosen. When we see that what was gives way to what will be, the past fueling the ever changing landscape in front of us like a catalyst of transformation. That at one point this was wanted and now in the aftermath all that went before has birthed new desires and dreams.
And that amidst it all, knowing we are powerful enough to change the thoughts that shape our world.
What choice do we have?
Every single one. In every single breath and every single moment.
What do you choose?
****This article is spoken on this subject from an adult perspective. As children have somethings unfold for them in ways they may not be willing participants, I am still rolling around in my head how that fits into the above subject. I am in no way saying that anyone who is subjected to anything they don't wish to be a party of has chosen that directly, adult or child. There are many that will speak to this subject deeper more professionally, and in a way I am unable.)
