The lyrics of a love song are etched upon the walls of this beating heart the melody echoing within me during waking hours and dream filled sleep.
I must have written them, with these unsteady longing hands, inspiration found in in the unseen and the unspoken, that to this day ring deep within my aching soul.
I can see you so clearly and want so much to reach through the worlds that lie between us, casting aside confusion and pain.
To be able to touch you, to let you be known for a moment as this life intended you to be, in your fullest and deepest truth, past the masks, the veils and the myths right down into the shady bits you hide from everyone else.
I wanted to kiss the truth of you and trace it with trembling fingers allowing all of you to be experienced; to know that there are those that celebrate you as you are.
It’s you , you see, not poison, as there is no toxicity dwelling there that was not poured into you by some occurrence that left it’s wound deep in you, some incident that was afraid of your truth and instead called you darkness.
To my eyes you are whole.
Full of shadows that dance and light that floods through panes of chipped glass. To me you are perfect disharmony, a song of fluid twist and turns. You are a beautiful work of art carved of flesh and well loved bone.
Sometimes you sing off key, an erratic scatter of melodies and it makes the notes all the more sacred to me. I treasure the flavor of each one and how they flow through my veins like wild fire.
Sometimes my dear one, to keep from being judged we keep from being seen.
We walk in the light with those who don’t care and choose only to see the peeling parts of us. We sit with those with no eyes to see us nor the effort to bother to read our lyrics, and silently we hope the ones that don’t understand will let us be.
In their indifference we walk quietly in our truth, like a ghost haunting the faded edges of twilight. Our hopes are prayers offered to the skies in quiet moments, hushed whispers like pearls of gleaming truth spilling from our lips.
In this place of discarded solitude, we thrive. Alone in the darkness and left to dance with our dreams, imaginations soar.
There is much to be grown in the unseen.
We discover at long last what fertile soil exists when the light pours in upon that hallowed ground at long last.
Imagine all that could thrive in such rich Earth.
I see you my love, with eyes and heart open I see.
I see the scattered fragments and layers peeling away exposing dreams and fears alike.
I see the neatly piled masks and old rule books calling to be discarded and abandoned.
Who will know the truth scribbled in your margins? Who will worship those pages until they crumble from time and well loved wear?
I don’t just want the light you see, I want the storm that wells in your soul, and the shadows you hide in the darkest parts of you.
I want the brilliance of your heart, the love you keep back from the rest of the world.
I want your mind, the thoughts you keep hidden behind walls of steel.
I want your love, the pounding of forever you lock under well guarded key.
I want the vibrant melody of you, every pane of stained glass and patchwork note woven in your sweet soul.
The wind whispers a lonely lullaby through the trees seeming to call your name somehow into my sleeping soul.
I wonder if you know that you live there, nestled in between the breaths of air and beating of my heart.
I wonder if you know that it’s you that holds me even while you are so far out of reach; you who are the lyrics of a love song etched deep within the walls of this aching heart.
